J. Randolph Miller concentrates his practice in the areas of banking, real estate transactions, title insurance issuance and title insurance defense.

He is an issuing agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company; Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company; Fidelity National Title Insurance Company; First American Title Insurance Company; and Old Republic National Title Insurance Company. In addition, he is an approved counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company and serves as chief manager of Appalachian Title Company, LLC.

In his real estate practice, Miller represents lenders, developers and title insurance companies.

Recent representative transactions in Tennessee include:

  • $3.86 million HUD apartment complex refinancing in Knoxville
  • $7.6 million acquisition and development of historic properties in Knoxville
  • $10 million acquisition and development of industrial property in Sevier County
  • $12.65 million permanent loan for apartment complex in Knoxville
  • $65 million acquisition of equity interest in resort development in East Tennessee

Miller, prior to joining Long, Ragsdale & Waters, was a partner with the firm of Walling, Miller & Brand and an officer of a local title insurance company.

Miller was born in Dayton, Tennessee, raised in Kingsport and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School.  He is married to Harriet Miller, and they have two sons, Peyton Miller, a second-year law student at Harvard Law School, and Gaines, a junior at American University. Miller enjoys long distance running, reading and travel.
