Alexander Waters concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial real estate transactions, real estate development and leasing, franchise law, conservation easements, entrepreneurial law, and general business law. He has extensive experience representing clients in a wide variety of real estate and business transactions, including:
- Representation of clients in the acquisition and sale of real estate, assets, and other businesses
- Representation of land trusts in drafting and negotiating conservation easements
- Representation of franchisors and franchisees in negotiating franchise agreements and disclosure documents
- Representation of lenders and borrowers in loan transactions
- Negotiation and preparation of contracts, leases and other legal documents, including purchase, sale, and easement agreements
- Formation of business entities, such as corporations, limited liability companies and limited and general partnerships

Alexander is a Knoxville native, 2006 graduate of the Webb School of Knoxville and the son of John B. Waters III. Waters enjoys remaining active in national, state and local politics and served as campaign treasurer for Mayor Glenn Jacobs’ successful re-election campaign for Knox County Mayor in 2022 as well as the Knox County campaign director for Mitt Romney for President in 2012.
In addition to his classroom experience, Waters completed two month-long excursions to Wyoming and Alaska with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Waters enjoys cooking, boating, attending sporting events, traveling, volunteering and attending live theatre at the Clarence Brown Theatre and regularly attending Laurel Church of Christ, where he is a member of its praise/worship team.
