Jennifer Milligan Swindle concentrates her practice in real estate law and development, business formations, corporate law, banking law, alcohol sales permits and mergers and acquisitions. She has extensive experience representing clients in a wide variety of real estate and business transactions, including:
- Representation of clients in the acquisition and sale of real estate, assets, restaurants and other businesses
- Representation of real estate developers and the formation of subdivision declarations and condominium regimes
- Representation of lenders and borrowers in loan transactions
- Negotiation and preparation of contracts and other legal documents, including purchase, sale, lease and easement agreements
- Formation of business entities, such as corporations, limited liability companies and limited and general partnerships
- Formation and representation of homeowners’ associations
- Representation of clients before regulatory authorities, such as the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the Knox County Beer Board and other federal, state and local agencies.
Jennifer has guided numerous clients through the growth and expansion of their businesses, filling the role of trusted adviser for entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, developers and other business owners to assist in the success of their enterprises. She has helped entrepreneurs from inception to sale of their businesses. Jennifer has helped to close the sale of businesses from a few thousand dollars to over $100 million. She has assisted in the purchase, expansion and sale of several Five Guys restaurant franchises and other business ventures.
Jennifer is a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. She was raised in a physician’s family on a farm in Jefferson County, Tennessee, and attended Webb School of Knoxville. She is highly accomplished in equestrian sports. In college, she co-founded and captained the James Madison Equestrian Team. She attended law school in New York and has passed the rigorous New York bar exam. Jennifer is a member of the Junior League of Knoxville and a board member of Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR), and is active in various fundraisers.
She lives in Knoxville and is married to a general contractor. Jennifer is personally involved with her husband’s construction and development projects, which makes her particularly well-suited to understand the business and legal issues facing her clients. She enjoys the opportunities for fishing, hunting, shooting, hiking and horseback riding available in East Tennessee.
